Modern technologies, such as the internet, have not only influenced our culture of celebrities today but have also paved the way for commercial partnerships that enable celebrities to become rich and powerful after selling their sense of intimacy to the public.
It is essential to define a celebrity and fandom, a phrase derived from the word “fanatic,” to comprehend how the public perceives modern celebrity spectacle. The word “fanatic” was initially used to describe someone who belonged to a particular congregation (De Kloet and Van Zoonen 324). Yet, throughout time, particularly in the context of celebrities, its meaning has changed to denote negative connotations, such as obsession and craziness. The stories broadcast by local media outlets and responded to by fans and other news consumers primarily elevate well-known people to the status of celebrities in the area.

They have discovered that fandom is well described when referring to particular settings.
