Question:
Discussion: Healthy Workplace Relationships
A positive workplace is built on healthy relationships.
Healthy relationships between staff will thrive when they are supported and engaged in their jobs.
By observing staff interactions, nurse managers can evaluate the workplace to determine if there are healthy relationships.
Is there trust, respect and collegiality, or are there dysfunctional or toxic interactions among staff members?
Nurse managers need to take positive steps to encourage healthy interactions when toxic or dysfunctional behavior is evident, even in the smallest group of staff.
If there is no foundation for healthy interpersonal relationships, then all other efforts to create a positive work environment will fail.
This Discussion examines the interactions between employees in your current company or with another one.
Positive psychology is a theory that promotes positive emotions and healthy relationships between staff members.
Answer:
Introduction
The ability to influence staff towards providing high-quality health care is called leadership in a hospital.
Leadership is the ability to influence human behavior in order to create a positive work environment (Langlois 2012).
Leadership is essential for ensuring that staff have healthy relationships and improve the quality of care.
Leadership is responsible for building trust, respect, support, and effective communication within the workplace.
Leadership strategies are techniques that can be used in order to create a favorable environment for staff to perform their duties (Manion 2011, 2011).
This article will outline the leadership strategies that can be used to build healthy relationships among hospital staff members.
This article also offers a psychological strategy to increase positive and negative interactions within the workplace.
Discussion
These are some leadership strategies that can be used to foster and build healthy relationships within a nursing hospital. They include developing staff skills, identifying needs and creating an environment conducive to work.
The first step to a great team is developing staff skills.
This will ensure that nurses are competent and their actions are reliable.
The development of skills for staffs will allow nurses to work together and give support.
To ensure that all nurses are able to improve their skills, I will be focusing on all types of nurses.
These include LPNs, RNs, and assistant nurses.
The second strategy is to identify the relationships in the workplace and what they need.
This strategy allows you to understand the needs of the relationships, and then take the appropriate steps to foster or restore healthy interaction at work.
This case will focus on the assistant nurses in order to allow them to work long hours with patients after the RNs have provided education and treatments.
A positive workplace environment is another strategy for leadership (Isolani 2013, 2013).
These are extrinsic motivational intervention that promote positive emotions and high morale at work.
To foster coordination and support staff in the hospital, this strategy should be adopted by all nurses.
It is important to include a positive psychology strategy to improve the positive and negative interactions at work in order to develop a leadership strategy.
This is a non-linear approach to leadership. I will implement six psychological principles to increase positive and negative interactions.
A non-linear approach to leading staff will foster a positive psychological environment that encourages employees to do their best and not push them to do their jobs (Langlois 2012).
Positive psychology will be promoted in the workplace through the implementation of the PROPEL strategy.
These strategies include creating an environment that encourages individual passion, optimism and proactivity, as well as relationships, energy, legacy, and energy.
These strategies will allow staff to increase positive and negative psychological emotions at work.
These strategies are designed to help leaders in the workplace create a positive working environment that exceeds employees’ expectations, and thus retain them.
Conclusion
The discussion revealed that leadership in health care organizations must shift away from a command-and-control approach to adopt new approaches that focus on building healthy relationships and enabling quality interactions while providing high-quality service.
Leaders in modern workplaces should focus on building healthy relationships, encouraging positive and negative psychological interactions and formulating and implementing effective strategies.
