Anxiety Disorders: How to Differentiate Between Normal Anxiety and Crippling Anxiety

Everyone has the potential to experience anxiety, which is a normal emotion. Anxiety may be more likely due to life’s demands and stresses, such as difficulties in school. Anxiety is a common reaction to life’s stresses and can have beneficial or harmful effects. The sensation can be motivating since it can motivate students to complete their homework on time, to put in extra effort, and to alert them to potentially harmful situations. In addition, anxiety serves as a warning to be cautious in a situation, to run away or fight (Maack, Buchanan, & Young, 2015). Nevertheless, excessive and intense anxiety might be harmful. It may have incapacitating or paralyzing symptoms that could harm a person’s health and wellness. Although anxiety can often be a natural part of life, it can be harmful if it is persistent and crippling. The project’s goal is to distinguish between common and severe anxiety to guide appropriate interventions.
Many academics have studied anxiety and its influence on various aspects of life, including education. The human body has a number of natural functions and defense mechanisms against stresses and demands from daily living. One common reaction to various situations and events in life is anxiety (MacDonald, Pawluk, Koerner, & Goodwill, 2015). According to Webster, Brough, and Daly (2016), a warning alerts a person to a threat or danger and primes the body to flee the risky situation or defend itself. It is an instance of what medical professionals refer to as the fight, flight, or freeze reaction (Maack, Buchanan, & Young, 2015). Therefore, the human body benefits from a controllable amount of anxiety. For instance, it aids students in getting ready for tests ahead of time to reduce anxiety-causing stress.
