Honda Pilot Trail Sport 2023 front quarter angleThe 2023 Honda Pilot is all-new from the wheels up, with a more aggressive look and more rugged options, including an off-road-focused TrailSport model. Pricing will start at $39,150 — about $1,000 more than the 2022 model. The 2023 Honda Pilot is scheduled to go on sale December 12th.

The pilot has always been a good family hauler. For 2023, it maintains its jack-of-all-trades character. A sneaky second row that can double as a pair of captain’s chairs for two or seat three (the inner center hides in the cargo floor when not in use) might be our favorite feature. This is only available on Touring and Elite models.

Or maybe the star is the TrailSport model. Honda introduced the TrailSport on the Pilot last year, but it was mostly for the clothes. Aside from the all-terrain tires, it mainly consisted of design changes.

This year, it’s a true off-roader with a higher ride height, skid plates to protect undercarriage during rock crawling, and a suspension retuned for the trails.

Every pilot gets a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 285 horsepower. Power passes through a new 10-speed front-wheel-drive (FWD) automatic transmission in base form or to AWD, which is standard on TrailSport and Elite models, and is optional elsewhere.
